With the introduction of the new directors the southern wing of the first level of the unit Kraepelin at Max-Planck Medical Centre for Psychiatry at Munich-Schwabing has been alterated. The building was found at the turn of the century and is a listed building.
Kai Otto Architekten are responsible for the architecture and interior design. The new concept created bright and friendly rooms, each equipped with industrial parquet flooring. Due to increased soundproofing the areas were provided with self-supporting noise protection ceilings and new doors.
Because of historic preservation reasons the new façade and the doors were adjusted to the design of the of the existing building. The interior windows consists of two big wings with skylight.
For the well-being of the staff the kitchenette has been equipped with new built-in furniture and creates a comfortable atmosphere. The project also includes the redevelopment and the structural alteration of the existing laboratories which means an update of the equipment into best available technology.
