Reconstruction and refurbishment of the directorate at the Max Planck Clinic for Psychiatry

In connection with the appointment of new directors, the first floor of the southern wing of the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich's district Schwabing was reconstructed. The building dates back to the turn of the century and is a listed building. Kai Otto Architekten were responsible for the architectural and interior design so that now, the rooms are bright and inviting including a new industrial parquet flooring. For sound insulation purposes, self-supporting acoustic ceilings as well as new doors were installed in the offices. Moreover, the interior climate complies with workplace regulations. For the benefit of all employees, the small kitchen was equipped with new built-in furniture. For heritage preservation purposes, the exterior window facade (listed box-type windows) as well as the doors complement the design of the existing building.

The refurbishment measures also included the laboratories and their facilities on the first floor. In this connection, the existing laboratory furniture was removed and replaced by modern work tables meeting today's requirements. Kai Otto Architekten were also responsible for the laboratory planning.
