Primary School in Marburg / Lahn
The City of Marburg planned an extension of the existing Martin Luther primary school in the city centre.
The architectural design concept defined a non-orthogonal building for the purpose of complementing and thus emphasizing the existing structure of the partly listed school as well as for improving the spatial quality of the schoolyard.
Moreover, the school building was linked functionally and also in terms of urban development and space with the existing municipal hall and its various types of usage. The connecting element between the different purposes and orientation of the buildings is the open-plan, four-storey spiral staircase in the new building.
