New sprinkler building and stairwell enclosure on chemical production building

Kai Otto Architects were tasked with constructing a new sprinkler building and extending and enclosing an external staircase system on a chemical production building. The structure of both parts of the building was erected in just a few days using the precast reinforced concrete construction method. As the sprinkler building is situated on the main supply line of the neighboring operational building, it was elevated on 16 drilled piles to ensure accessibility to the lines. The three-story building includes the sprinkler system technology and other production areas. Both parts of the building were clad with a durable ventilated sheet metal profile facade with mineral insulation, which can be disassembled afterwards as needed. The insertion openings of both buildings were equipped with folded elements to achieve the most serene and harmonious facade appearance possible. The sprinkler piping is routed around the building on a pipe bridge and distributed to the appropriate production floors in the new shaft extension. Additionally, Kai Otto Architects managed the project for converting and extending the existing production building, expanding it to six levels while production operations continued.
