New sprinkler building and stairwell enclosure on chemical production building

Kai Otto Architekten were commissioned with the construction of a new sprinkler building and the extension and enclosure of an external staircase system on a chemical production building. The shell of both parts of the building was erected in a few days using the precast reinforced concrete construction method. Since the sprinkler building is located on the main supply line of the neighboring building that is in operation, it was elevated on 16 drilled piles in order to keep the lines accessible. The 3-story building includes the sprinkler system technology and other production areas. Both parts of the building were clad with a long-lasting ventilated sheet metal profile façade with mineral insulation, which can be dismantled again afterwards according to type. The insertion openings of both buildings were equipped with folded elements in order to achieve the calmest and most harmonious facade appearance possible. The sprinkler piping is routed around the building on a pipe bridge and distributed to the appropriate production floors in the new shaft extension. In addition, Kai Otto Architekten took over the project management for the conversion and extension of the existing production building. The expansion to 6 levels took place during ongoing production operations.
